Report: Man City looking to dominate United once again with ambitious swoop

Manchester City fans here in the Tavern won’t accept anything less than silverware next season after a rather dominant campaign.

Indeed, the Citizens secured the Premier League title with ease last season, but just couldn’t find a way past Liverpool in the Champions League due to a couple of poor defensive displays. Although, it looks as if Guardiola is looking for defensive improvements, as according to Süddeutsche Zeitung (via MCFC watch), Manchester City are interested in signing World Cup star Benjamin Pavard.

The Red Devils are reportedly interested in signing highly-rated French defender Benjamin Pavard from VfB Stuttgart.

Encouragingly, the 22-year-old has established himself as one of the shining lights at this year’s World Cup, which has seen him attract attention from Real Madrid, with Bayern Munich hoping to land him next season.

Although, the right-back’s preferred option is to remain in Stuttgart next season.

Landlord’s Verdict:

So, it looks as if Manchester City will look to dominate Manchester United once again by bringing in the highly-rated defender this summer. The Citizens struggled to ensure defensive solidity at times during the last campaign, but bringing Pavard to the club would be sure to iron out any underlying issues.

Therefore, United may struggle to even find a way past City in the next campaign, which could mean that the Premier League title returns to the Etihad.

However, moving for the Frenchman is rather ambitious as the youngster is attracting attention from some of Europe’s biggest clubs.
