Report: Man United suffer setback in pursuit of potential Smalling replacement

Manchester United fans here in the Tavern will be hoping that their side can secure the Premier League title next season after watching their bitter rivals Manchester City enjoy success.

The Red Devils failed to secure any silverware this season as they lost to Chelsea in the FA Cup final. And, it doesn’t look as if things are getting any better for Manchester United, as according to Gazzetta dello Sport, reported Manchester United target Milan Skriniar sounds as though he plans to stay at the San Siro this summer.

Sadly, it sounds as if reported Manchester United target Milan Skriniar is looking to stay at current club Inter Milan this summer.

The Slovakian enjoyed an impressive debut season with Inter after signing from Sampdoria last summer, which caught the eye of the likes of Manchester City, Manchester United, Real Madrid and Barcelona.

However, he said this recently:

“I am happy in Milan with Inter, nothing else matters. I don’t know what’s going on in the market and I won’t talk about it either.”

Landlord’s Verdict:

Manchester United may have been looking to sign Skriniar as a suitable replacement for Chris Smalling, as the Englishman struggled for consistency this season and received a whole load of criticism. However, it appears as if Jose Mourinho won’t be able to sign the defender this summer after seeing his latest comments.
