Report: Newcastle have no problem with target’s wages but transfer fee is big issue

Newcastle United fans in the Transfer Tavern will be disappointed with the recruitment the club has been able to do so far and they will be keen for a few more faces to arrive in the coming weeks.

The Magpies have already signed Martin Dubravka and Ki Sung-yueng this summer, however, Rafa Benitez is still desperate to add a few more additions to strengthen his side ahead of the upcoming Premier League campaign.

According to reports in the Newcastle Chronicle, Kenedy is still on their list of targets and it is being claimed that they would have no problem meeting his wage demands. However, a permanent transfer is what would be considered an issue as Chelsea are thought to have an asking price of around £30million.

The Brazilian was instrumental to the way that the Toon Army played last season following his six-month stint in the north-east and it is no surprise that Benitez wants to bring him back to St. James’ Park once again.

Landlord’s Verdict

The 22-year-old had a major influence on the squad during his stay and the Newcastle fans in the Tavern would be delighted if they can get him back, whether on a loan deal or permanent transfer.

Kenedy would offer Benitez the flexibility of changing his system for certain games, as well as providing skill and pace down the left-hand side of the pitch.
