Report: Newcastle prepared to offload one man to bring attacking duo to St. James’ Park

Newcastle United have made two additions this summer, however, the fans in the Transfer Tavern will still want to see a couple more arrive.

The Magpies confirmed the signing of Ki Sung-yueng on Friday from Swansea City joining Martin Dubravka as Rafa Benitez’s latest recruits. However, reports are suggesting that the Spaniard still wants to bring a couple of wide-men to St. James’ Park to bolster their attacking options.

The Northern Echo are claiming that Chelsea’s Kenedy and Andros Townsend of Crystal Palace are still high on Benitez’s list of targets and they could be prepared to offload Matt Ritchie in order to get the duo.

It is understood that the Magpies have held several discussions about bringing the Brazilian winger back to the north-east, whilst talks about taking Townsend back to St. James’ Park have also been believed to have been positive, although there is thought to be some distance between the two club’s valuation for the England international.

Landlord’s Verdict

The Newcastle fans in the Tavern will have been growing slightly frustrated about their transfer activity, however, the reports that the club have been holding several talks for Kenedy and Townsend will give them some relief.

The locals will be disappointed that Ritchie may make way to allow such a move to happen, however, they will understand the transfer if they can bring the duo to St. James’ Park this summer.
