Report: Pellegrini eyes 6ft 5in star from 2nd division outfit

West Ham United fans will be looking forward to seeing who the club can bring in during the summer transfer window as it is believed the new manager will be heavily backed financially .

Manuel Pellegrini was named as David Moyes’ successor on Tuesday, and he has been busy identifying new transfer targets to help improve the squad since his arrival at the London Stadium.

The goalkeeper position is thought to be an area of concern for the Chilean, with Adrian believed to be eyeing up a move away, whilst Joe Hart has returned back to Manchester City following his loan spell.

According to the Mirror, the West Ham boss wants to bring Edouard Mendy to the Premier League, having been impressed with his performances with Reims in Ligue 2.

Landlord’s Verdict

The 25-year-old could prove to be an inspired buy should he join the Hammers. The Guinea-Bissau international is thought to be rated at around £2 million and has earned rave reviews in France.

The shot-stopper kept 17 clean sheets in his 31 appearances last season, conceding just 19 goals, making him an attractive prospect for many.

However, the West Ham locals in the bar may be concerned that the fact he has not played at a high-level could count against him in the Premier League, and would possibly be in favour of a more experienced stopper being brought in during the summer.
