West Ham United fans in the Transfer Tavern have been getting all excited about the prospect of who Manuel Pellegrini can bring to the London Stadium this summer.
The Chilean arrived last month to replace David Moyes and is keen on making his team as strong as possible, as he looks to take them to a European football spot with an attractive playing style.
And if the latest transfer rumours are to be believed, he could be about to achieve those aims with his huge signing this summer.
Sky Sports are claiming that the Hammers are interested in bringing Mario Gotze to the London Stadium from Borussia Dortmund. The 2014 World Cup winner has failed to find his form for the BVB since rejoining them from Bayern Munich and it is believed the Bundesliga side could be prepared to listen to offers if they’re high enough.
The 26-year-old, who is wanted by a host of clubs around Europe, would not be expected to leave for much less than the fee they paid for him last summer, however.
Gotze has been extremely unfortunate over the past couple of seasons, having suffered from illnesses that have disrupted his promising career and look to have taken a huge toll on his ability.
There are no doubts that he can return to the player he once looked, having shown glimpses last year, and West Ham would certainly benefit from a player of his experience in the middle of the field.
The locals will be excited if they can bring a player of his quality to the side and will hope Pellegrini can make a deal happen, should they go in for him.
