Liverpool supporters have been somewhat deflated in the Transfer Tavern this week after seeing their team’s 18-match unbeaten run in all competitions come to a meek end courtesy of a 1-0 defeat against Premier League strugglers Swansea City on Monday.
Jurgen Klopp’s men went into their clash with the division’s bottom club heavy favourites for all three points given their excellent unbeaten streak, as well as their most recent victory which came at the expense of runaway leaders Manchester City. However, the Reds produced a lacklustre display and were deservedly beaten in South Wales thanks to Alfie Mawson’s strike just before half time, in turn clinching a crucial three points for the Swans, at the same denting Liverpool’s top four ambitions.
Subsequently, there have been many disappointed Liverpudlians in the Tavern in the last few days, and their mood is unlikely to be improved by a recent report from The Liverpool Echo, which has moved to quash recent transfer talk regarding a possible move for Brazil international Luan.
The 24-year-old forward currently plays his trade in his homeland with Gremio and has certainly proven his worth to the side with 36 goals and 22 assists in just 131 games for the club, helping them win last year’s Copa Libertadores title, a tournament in which he was named the best player.
And reports in the last few days suggested that the Reds were in talks over a potential move for the two-time Brazil international, but recent reports have detailed that there are ‘no truth’ in such claims, in news which may well come as big blow to several of our resident Liverpool supporters.
Landlord’s verdict: Reports yesterday suggested that Liverpool were in talks over a possible move for Brazil international Luan, in news which appeared to intrigue and indeed encourage some of our resident Reds fans.
Yet recent reports today suggest that that is simply not the case, although the report stopped short of quashing any links with the 24-year-old to suggest that he may well be on Jurgen Klopp’s radar ahead of the summer.
And with reports in the past suggesting that the Merseysiders have indeed scouted the forward, it would suggest that while there does appear to be interest, things aren’t quite as advanced as it seems.
