Everton fans in the Transfer Tavern will be looking forward to the reign of Marco Silva and Marcel Brands as they look to take the club to where they aim to be, however, one man is unlikely to be with them for the journey.
The Portuguese manager was appointed as the new manager last week and it has been revealed that he has no plans for Wayne Rooney, according to a report in the Daily Mirror. The media outlet are claiming that the former England international is free to complete a switch to DC United as the pair will not stand in his way.
The attacker, who rejoined Everton last summer, had made his feelings known that he was not happy at the club when Sam Allardyce had been in charge, however, he had been hoping to sort his future at Goodison Park out when the new manager came in.
It would appear that Rooney’s future, in terms of playing days, at Everton are over and he is not going to get his wish to sort it out under Marco Silva. The new manager and director of football have both stated that they will not step in and stop a possible switch to the MLS from happening, which would signal to some of the locals in the bar that the forward’s future does continue elsewhere.
