Report: Southampton eye swoop for potential Carrillo replacement

Southampton fans here in the Tavern will be desperate to see their side enjoy a better season than the last as they only just managed to escape the dreaded clutches of relegation.

The Saints have already made a couple of moves on the transfer front as they continue to seek improvements after a rather disastrous campaign last time out. And, it appears as if Mark Hughes is eyeing another possible addition, as according to Sky Sports’ Transfer Centre Live Blog, Southampton are interested in Atalanta striker Andrea Petagna.

Interestingly, it’s understood that the Saints are interested in signing Atalanta striker Andrea Petagna as they continue their striker search.

Mark Hughes is looking to bring in a number of reinforcements this summer to avoid a repeat of last season, with a striker being a must.

And, Guido Carrillo was recently left out of the Saints’ 30-man squad to tour China, so they may look to bring the Italian to St Mary’s as a direct replacement.

Landlord’s Verdict:

Guido Carrillo has been a complete waste of space since joining the club back in January as he has failed to have a positive impact on proceedings, with a summer transfer window exit looking extremely likely. So, with Southampton wasting no time in looking to bring in a striker, supporters may finally get to witness goals on a consistent basis next season.
