Report: Southampton in talks for goalkeeper as Hughes looks to continue rebuild

Southampton have had a busy few days in the transfer window recently and it looks as though the fans in the Transfer Tavern could have something else to smile about soon.

Mark Hughes has been tasked with trying to keep the Saints in the Premier League and as far away from relegation as possible, having just guided them to safety last season.

He will want to bring in a number of additions to help improve his squad over the summer and has already acquired Stuart Armstrong from Celtic and Sky Sports are claiming the club are believed to have agreed to a fee with Basel for Mohamed Elyounoussi.

Dusan Tadic will join Ajax at the end of the month which will free finances up for Hughes, who GOAL are now claiming are looking at signing Angus Gunn from Manchester City on a £15million deal.

It is believed the Saints have been monitoring the goalkeeper for some time and could be prepared to offer him regular first-team football in the Premier League, something that Pep Guardiola’s side will not be able to do.

Landlord’s Verdict

The locals in the Tavern will be pleased to see the former England Under-21 arrive at St. Mary’s Stadium as they look to strengthen their goalkeeping position. The 22-year-old is highly thought off by many in the game and the Saints will hope they can get him to join them next season.
