Report: Tottenham could look to hijack deal for highly-rated attacker

Tottenham Hotspur fans in the Transfer Tavern will be concerned with the lack of transfer activity surrounding the club this summer.

Mauricio Pochettino is keen on adding a number of players to his Spurs side in order of making them stronger and giving them a better chance of remaining competitive in the competitions they are involved in.

The White Hart Lane outfit have been linked with numerous targets throughout the transfer window, and reports in the Daily Telegraph are suggesting that the north London outfit are now favourites to land a highly-rated attacker.

The media outlet is claiming that Spurs are thought to have taken over from Newcastle United as a possible destination for Alassane Plea this summer. It is understood that Tottenham are prepared to hijack a deal for the 25-year-old, as the Magpies stall on meeting the £27million valuation Nice have placed upon their star.

Landlord’s Verdict

The Tottenham fans in the Tavern will be pleased that the club appears to be leading the race for Plea, as they will realise that they need another striker in the squad.

With Fernando Llorente thought to be heading for the exit, it leaves Spurs with just Harry Kane and Pochettino will want someone reliable to provide as cover when needed and to add competition to the England international for his place in the side.

Plea has been prolific in the Ligue One for Nice and it is no surprise that Tottenham have taken an interest, however, it remains to be seen if they can reach the valuation placed upon him and convince him to join them at White Hart Lane.
