Report: Wolves could break transfer record twice this summer

Wolverhampton Wanderers fans here in the Tavern are expecting nothing less than a top-half finish in the next campaign after witnessing last season’s display.

Indeed, the Midlands club will be full of confidence as they gear up for Premier League football in the next campaign, with the summer transfer window being of huge importance. Although, it appears as if Wolves have encountered a problem on the transfer front, as according to A Bola (via Sport Witness), Sporting Lisbon want Wolves to pay Patricio’s €45 million (£39.8 million) buyout clause.

Shockingly, Sporting have reportedly filed a claim with FIFA, seeking €54 million (around £48 million) from Wolves and the footballer. The amount is made up of Rui Patricio’s €45 million (£39.8 million) release clause and the remaining wages on the two years of his contract which was left.

The Portuguese international cancelled his contract with Sporting after an €18 million switch to Wolves was scuppered at the last minute.

Landlord’s Verdict:

Wolves have reportedly made a club record bid for Manchester City’s Oleksandr Zinchenko.

So, it looks as if Wolves could break their transfer record twice this summer if they land Zinchenko and end up having to meet Patricio’s release clause. Although, this all depends on whether Sporting Lisbon’s claim with FIFA is successful.

Indeed, this would be a huge blow for Wolves after securing him on a free transfer earlier on in the window.
