Everton fans here in the Tavern will be hoping that Marco Silva can ensure success next season, as the Toffees flirted with the possibility of relegation towards the start of the last campaign.
Marco Silva has a point to prove after failing to impress during his time at Watford, with many of our local Evertonians expecting a European spot next season. Although, it looks as if the Merseyside club aren’t enjoying much luck on the transfer front, as according to Calcio Mercato, Watford are set to beat Everton to the signing of Bologna left-back Adam Masina.
The Merseyside club were linked with a move to hijack Watford’s deal to sign the player earlier on this week but it seems a transfer to Vicarage Road is on the cards for Masina.
Everton manager Marco Silva is likely to keep the faith in Leighton Baines as his first-choice left-back next season but it seems the new man is after some cover in the defensive department.
Sadly, it’s understood that Masina is set to sign for Watford in the coming days for a fee worth €8 million along with additional bonuses.
So, many of our local residents are rather concerned that Watford have reportedly beaten them to the left-back’s signature, as he would have been a key signing for Everton, with Cuco Martina struggling to ensure consistency and Leighton Baines getting on with age.
