Reported Chelsea target lavishes praise upon Conte, admits he may play under him one day

The Chelsea fans in the Transfer Tavern are desperate to see a striker join the club this summer…

A host of targets have been linked with a move to the club in recent weeks, most notably Alvaro Morata and Romelu Lukaku, leaving the Blues in the pub divided on who they want to join the club.

It appears as though the Morata-supporting fans in the Tavern may have received a bit of a boost, though, with the striker recently revealing his admiration for Antonio Conte – even hinting that he wants to play under him eventually.

He said: “Conte is the manager who most ‘bet’ on me…he bet on me for Juventus but left before I arrived; then he wanted me at Chelsea…He knows me better than I could imagine, I’m sure, and that’s important: it motivates you to work hard, train well”.

“I’ve never had the fortune to actually work with him. I’m sure sooner or later I will. The future excites me”, he added.

Whilst he didn’t explicitly note that a move would be forthcoming, the Spaniard certainly seems keen to play under Conte at one point, and this is important for Chelsea. Given Conte’s impressive start to the season, it does not sound unfeasible to suggest that he may be at the club for several years – more than enough time for Morata to make a move.

Morata has been a bit-part player for Real Madrid this season, having made just 10 starts in La Liga. Significantly, though, he has bagged 11 goals in the Spanish top flight, signalling just how deadly he can be either from the start or from the bench.
