Reportedly forthcoming Man Utd transfer could spell bad news for Chelsea this summer

The Chelsea fans in the Transfer Tavern have been expecting Eden Hazard to stay at the club this summer, but they may have to have a bit of a re-think…

According to the Daily Mail, an exit for James Rodriguez to Man Utd this summer could open the door for a renewed approach from Real Madrid for Eden Hazard. It is noted that Los Blancos remain keen on the Belgian, and should Rodriguez make the move, the club will have the funds to sign Hazard as a replacement.

Speculation has, of course, been rampant in recent weeks surrounding James Rodriguez – with Sky Sports reporting on Tuesday that the Columbian has been offered to Man Utd.

Certainly, the pieces will have to fall into place for Hazard to leave the club this summer – but that hasn’t stopped the fans in the Transfer Tavern from being nervous. Hazard has, of course, been in fine form this season – and without him, it seems unlikely that the Blues would have won the title so easily.

Man Utd won’t mind, though, given how good Rodriguez is likely to be in the Premier League. Able to carve open defences much like Eden Hazard – Jose Mourinho will likely be hoping that the deal goes ahead.

That being said, our landlord finds it very hard to believe that Chelsea will turn down a record-breaking move for Hazard – and so he thinks that perhaps Antonio Conte should be aware of the threat that is looming.
