The Arsenal fans here in the Football Transfer Tavern are desperate to see a string of signings announced as the new season edges closer and closer.
The Gooners at the bar are expecting a flurry of big name signings this summer after manager Arsene Wenger singed a controversial new two-year-deal off the back of a woeful season, glossed over by their record-breaking FA Cup win over Premier League champions Chelsea.
However, fans could have some good news this week with reports from Italy suggesting a signing is just around the corner.
According to reports from Calciomercato, the Gunners have finalised a deal for Leicester winger Riyad Mahrez and an announcement on the deal is expected soon.
The north Londoners have been chasing a deal for the Algerian international since last summer after his outstanding displays for Claudio Ranieri’s title winners and, although his form last season was not at the same level, our landlord reckons that alongside players of Arsenal’s quality the 26-year-old will shine once again.
Should the announcement come within the next few days the Foxes star will be the second signing of the summer for Wenger, having finalised a deal for Sead Kolasinac last month.
