The Southampton fans here in the Football Transfer Tavern are still split over whether or not it was the right decision to sack manager Claude Puel. Whilst some are happy to see the back of the Frenchman, the majority feel it was a harsh decision given his achievements in his first season.
Those who feel this was the right way to go, however, will want to send their thanks to one star after reports from France claimed he was behind the sacking.
According to reports from French newspaper L’Equipe (via Sport Witness), Saints playmaker Dusan Tadic was the ring-leader in a dressing room revolt which played a key role in Puel being dismissed.
The Serbian international clearly wasn’t a fan of the former Nice boss, having spoken out over a lack of game time at St. Mary’s while on international duty earlier this season, having been brought off in consecutive games despite feeling he still had more to give.
Saints fans, we want to hear from you! Do you think the club were right to sack Puel? Should they be letting players dictate decisions such as the dismissal of a manager? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below…
