Manchester United fans in the Transfer Tavern can have a good laugh after a rumour seemingly dead in the water suggesting Juan Mata looked likely to leave and join La Liga giants, Barcelona, has been criticised by a well-sourced Sky Sports pundit.
According to the Daily Mail, Barcelona were apparently keen to secure the services of Manchester United’s midfield maestro Juan Mata and that talks had taken place between the two clubs but ‘discussions thus far have not progressed beyond this point.’
The vagueness and lack of credibility in the article caused Gulliem Balague, a well-sourced Sky Sports Spanish pundit, to react quite angrily to the article.
Balague took to Twitter to vent his anger and labelled the Mail’s article as “rubbish story of the day” as reports suggest that Mata is happy at Manchester United and Louis Van Gaal has no intention of selling the Spanish playmaker any time soon.
With no further suggestion to support any truth in the rumour, it’s more than likely safe to assume that Juan Mata to Barcelona will NOT be one of the deadline day’s big stories.
