The signing of Davide Zappacosta was a popular one in the Transfer Tavern…
Whilst not a particularly well known name in England, Chelsea’s need for more depth in their defence was evident, and with just Victor Moses for Conte to choose from on the right last season, Zappacosta was the perfect option.
The Italian has found his game time limited thus far, with Victor Moses continuing to impress in his place, but our landlord is expecting that to come to an end soon.
After all, Moses is a square peg in a round hole, and most supporters recognise that Zappacosta is the future of the position for Chelsea.
However, the future is, seemingly, not now – with 52% of recently polled Chelsea fans hoping that Victor Moses will start against Stoke City this weekend.
In truth, the results couldn’t have been much closer, and so whatever happens, a large section of fans will be disappointed.
That goes a long way to suggesting just how good Chelsea’s strength in depth is now, though, with Conte having a plethora of players, all of whom are great, to choose from on a regular basis.
Chelsea fans – thoughts?
