The Tottenham fans in the Transfer Tavern have been locked in debate over the last week regarding their side’s summer business.
The Lilywhites have been quiet in the market so far, and that has come as a surprise. They haven’t been afraid to spend in recent years, and last season was far from perfect for the club.
We recently made the case for the club to launch a move for Yaya Toure, whose contract at Man City expires this summer. The midfielder, who has won the Premier League three times, would add some experience and quality to the midfield if Spurs were to target him.
However, it’s an idea that has generated division amongst fans.
We asked supporters whether they’d be keen on a move, and in response, 53% voted in favour – whilst 47% are seemingly against the idea of a deal.
Whilst far from an overwhelming majority, it seems that a large portion of fans would be behind the deal – and that’s very interesting.
He’s, obviously, not the sort of player that Tottenham normally target, given his age. However, he would, of course, be available on a free, and nobody in the Tottenham first team has as much experience as him.
Fans are right to be cautious, given that he struggled last season, but some clearly feel as though he has enough left in the tank.
It will be interesting to see where he ends up.
