Arsenal are being linked with a move for Andre Gomes, and it’s sure to be a move that causes division. The Barcelona midfielder hasn’t had a particularly good year, but as a 1-time La Liga winner and a European Championship winner, the Portuguese has clearly got a lot of talent. But is he good enough for the Emirates?
We recently asked Arsenal fans whether they’d like to see Gomes at the Emirates, and it’s fair to say that the fanbase is divided.
Of those polled, 55% voted in favour of a move, whilst 45% appear to be against a deal.
There are, of course, reasons for both arguments. On one hand, he’s won a number of trophies, and he wouldn’t be at Barcelona if he was a bad player. Furthermore, Unai Emery is a manager that is brilliant at getting the best out of players, and so he could be just what the Gunners need. Not to mention, given his poor form, the Portuguese will never be cheaper – meaning that a move carries little risk.
However, his poor form is, obviously, going to cause concerns, and he can’t escape that. Fans tend to look at the recent past when determining whether a deal is worth it, and his last season has warning signs written all over it.
A majority of polled fans want to see him join, of courses, but the fan base is clearly divided.
