Revealed: 61% of Spurs fans want talented 20-year-old to start against Real Madrid

The Tottenham fans in the Transfer Tavern are already piling into the Transfer Tavern ahead of their side’s clash with Real Madrid tonight. It’s a game that could have huge ramifications in the context of Tottenham’s Champions League campaign, whilst a good performance could also solidify Tottenham’s rise back to the cream of the crop in Europe. That said, a defeat could leave them in a bad position.

Given the significance of the fixture, it’s essential that Tottenham pick up a good result, and so team selection is key. Given that, though, with Ben Davies expected to miss the game through injury, Mauricio Pochettino has a bit of a dilemma on his hands. He hasn’t got much depth in the role, with Danny Rose not yet at 100%, and so it might take a big decision from the Argentine.

It appears as though the Tottenham faithful certainly want him to make a bold choice, with 61% of recently polled fans calling for Kyle Walker-Peters to get his chance. Though naturally a right-back, a lack of depth means that either way Pochettino will have to play someone out of position, and Walker-Peters could be a decent fit. He’s solid defensively, and that will be key against Real Madrid’s deadly attack.

Son Heung-min is perhaps the likeliest choice to play in the role, but the Tottenham fans in the Transfer Tavern are hopeful that Poch will take a risk and give the youngster a chance. He could surprise everyone.
