The Tottenham fans in the Transfer Tavern are desperate for Mauricio Pochettino to bring in a new forward this month. Harry Kane is a fantastic option, but beyond the Englishman, Pochettino’s options are severely limited.
Fernando Llorente hasn’t been a reliable option so far this term, and so the Argentine would be wise to go for someone that can practically guarantee goals.
An example of a player that might be a good fit is Javier Hernandez. He’s proven in the Premier League, and with 99 international caps under his belt, he’s got years of experience behind him.
That’s a move, it seems, that fans would be behind – with 62% of recently polled Spurs supporters suggesting that they would like to see the Mexican forward swap the London Stadium for Wembley.
He’s had a tough few months at West Ham, and David Moyes doesn’t seem to rate him, and so he could relish the chance of a fresh start at Tottenham. He’d struggle to find a better manager to play under than Mauricio Pochettino, and he’d struggle to find a style of play that suits him any better than that at Spurs. With an emphasis on passing, movement, and pace – he’d fit right in. Significantly, West Ham could be willing to sell him this summer – according to a report from Sky Sports last week – giving Pochettino a real chance at this deal if he wants to take it.
An attacking duo of Javier Hernandez and Harry Kane would be strong enough to rival any other attack in the Premier League. When you throw the creativity of Dele Alli and Christian Eriksen into the mix, it becomes a terrifying prospect.
