Revealed: 64% of Chelsea fans expect the Blues land £36m-rated defender in January

It’s looking set to be an interesting January window for Chelsea. They’re some way off Man City in the Premier League, and so if Antonio Conte is to have any chance of repeating his heroics of last season again, Roman Abramovich is going to have to back him with money.

There appears to be a decent chance of that happening, with a number of players linked with moves to Stamford Bridge. One story that is refusing to go away surrounds Alex Sandro, with Chelsea are said to be keen to land according to the Mirror. It’s a story that has continually reared its head since the summer, and so there must be some truth to it.

Indeed, likely given the rumours, it’s a move that many Chelsea fans appear to be expecting, with 64% of recently polled Chelsea fans revealing that they expect their club to land the defender.

There are likely to be a number of factors that are contributing to their confidence. As mentioned, the frequency at which Sandro – who is rated at £36 million by Transfer Markt – has been linked to the Blues certainly stands for something, with Chelsea’s interest seemingly concrete at this point. Indeed, the Mirror notes that a £50 million move is forthcoming for the Brazilian.

What’s more, his standing at Juventus appears to have reduced somewhat this season. Though typically a regular, he has started just 12 Serie A games this season, and that may suggest somewhat of an issue behind the scenes.

Of course, Juventus aren’t likely to want to sell mid-season, but stranger things have happened in football over the years. Unfortunately for the Chelsea faithful, though, their side hasn’t had the best record at securing deals that they want over the last few seasons, and so our landlord is bracing our resident Blues for disappointment.
