Revealed: 78% of fans want Mourinho to make this bold team selection choice against Chelsea

The Man Utd fans in the Transfer Tavern are looking forward to their side’s upcoming clash with Chelsea. The Red Devils have had a good few weeks, and with both their Premier League and Champions League campaigns going well, Jose Mourinho is really turning the fortunes of his side around.

It’s the Premier League that is on the mind of the fans in the pub at the moment, though, with a big game coming up this weekend. Chelsea are the opponents, and they’ve had a decidedly different few weeks. Though their Premier League form has improved, a disgraceful 3-0 loss to Roma on Tuesday proved that they’re far from the side that impressed last season.

There’s an opening, then, for Man Utd to really send a message to their rivals this weekend – and Jose Mourinho’s team selection will undoubtedly have an impact on that. He’s got a few dilemmas to deal with, one of them surrounding Scott McTominay. McTominay has looked very good when given a chance this season, and he impressed against Benfica in mid-week.

In fact, his fine performance has left some of the fans in the pub calling for him to keep his place, and that’s a sentiment that is shared by most fans, it seems. According to a recent poll run by our landlord, a whopping 78% of supporters want to see McTominay start against Chelsea – with fans clearly convinced by his quality.

Man Utd’s midfield depth isn’t looking great at the moment, and so there is definitely scope for his reprisal. Mourinho, though, will have to go against his normal approach of relying on experienced talent. There is no doubt, however, that McTominay would do a job. His technical class, work rate and enthusiasm will surely shine through.
