The Tottenham fans in the Transfer Tavern Tavern are feeling very confident ahead of their side’s clash with Chelsea. Spurs have been on a decent run of form, particularly in the Premier League, and a win will put them in a very commanding position as they look to ensure a top-four finish.
However, Chelsea won’t be an easy opponent to defeat, and so Mauricio Pochettino must get his team selection right.
One player that Tottenham fans don’t appear to want to see start the game is midfielder Mousa Sissoko (who is rated at £18 million by Transfer Markt). The Frenchman started for Spurs in their win over Swansea City in the FA Cup, but it doesn’t appear as though many fans were impressed.
Our landlord recently ran a poll on this very topic, and a whopping 84% of fans have called for Sissoko to lose his place against the Blues.
The 28-year-old has, of course, been in and out of the team all season long, with just 12 Premier League starts to his name so far this term.
Though naturally more offensive, he’s often been used in the heart of the midfield, and he has looked good. However, unfortunately for him, Mauricio Pochettino has a wealth of choices in the role.
Clearly, fans are hoping for more of a robust midfield pairing – with Victor Wanyama, Mousa Dembele and Eric Dier likely to be battling it out for a starting berth. That said, Pochettino could choose to go against the desire of the Lilywhites’ faithful. It’s fair to say that there will be a lot of eyes on the Transfer Tavern’s flatscreens on Sunday to find out what he goes for.
Tottenham fans – do you agree? Should Sissoko start?
