Revealed: 86% of Tottenham fans want Pochettino to land this creative midfielder in January

The Tottenham fans in the Transfer Tavern are keen for their side to secure a bit more depth in January. The Lilywhites’ first team is one of the strongest in the Premier League, but Mauricio Pochettino doesn’t have many options beyond his regular choices, and that’s a problem.

Particularly given the return of the Champions League in the new year, Pochettino will need a few more bodies, and with January fast approaching, the fans in the Transfer Tavern have been discussing a few potential targets. One player that is a popular name amongst our resident Lilywhites is Ross Barkley, and that’s an opinion shared amongst most Spurs fans it seems.

Our landlord recently polled supporters on that very matter, and a whopping 86% of Tottenham fans responded with a resounding yes. Conversely, just 14% of fans would be against the deal.

That represents a sizeable majority, and it’s pretty easy to see why. Undoubtedly one of the best homegrown players in England, Barkley is a creative midfielder, providing fantastic passing, dribbling and technical ability typically playing just behind the strikers. He draws comparisons with Dele Alli, and so given Alli’s poor form this year, Barkley would be a decent choice as Pochettino looks to sure up his options.

He’s had a tough year at Everton, and in truth, from the outside, it looks like his time at the club is coming to an end. A move to Tottenham, then, could work best for the player, the club, and – indeed – the fans.
