The Liverpool fans in the Transfer Tavern are ready for Alberto Moreno to lose his place permanently. The Spaniard is currently out injured, but Andy Robertson has come in in place of him, and he has excelled. Delivering consistent performances whilst continuing to hone his craft, the Scotsman is really proving Jurgen Klopp wrong for ignoring him for so long.
It’s no surprise, then, that there have been suggestions amongst fans that he will keep his place long-term from Moreno, and this appears to be something that most fans want to see. According to a recent poll ran by our landlord, a whopping 89% of Liverpool fans feel as though Robertson can be the long-term successor to Moreno, touting him to eventually take over the mantle from the Spaniard.
Whilst that doesn’t suggest that he’s ready to do that quite yet, the signs from him have been good. He hasn’t really put a foot wrong during his recent spell in the first team, and he can’t be asked to do much more than that.
Providing consistent defending, continued effort and commitment alongside a decent attacking threat, Robertson provides everything that Liverpool require down the left-hand side.
Moreno has a big job on his hands to prove the Anfield faithful wrong.
