The Liverpool fans in the Transfer Tavern are eager for Jurgen Klopp to complete a deadline day deal or two. The Reds have been pretty quiet following the arrival of Virgil van Dijk, and given the precarious nature of their league standing, a new face or two certainly wouldn’t go amiss.
One area in which they are particularly lacking is in the attack. The sale of Philippe Coutinho has left a gap in creativity through the middle-of-the-park, and that’s something that needs to be solved.
Liverpool fans, though, seemingly have found the player that they want to replace him, at least according to a recent poll ran by our landlord. Questioned on the prospect of signing Lyon star Nabil Fekir, a whopping 91% of Liverpool supporters have responded in favour of a move.
It’s no real surprise, given that Fekir is arguably the perfect replacement for Coutinho. Creative just like the Brazilian, Fekir brings fantastic technique and attacking pedigree, making him a real threat going forward.
Like Coutinho, he’s also fantastic from set pieces, which is something that Liverpool are now lacking following the Brazilian’s departure.
Fekir’s form this season has been simply remarkable. In just 20 Ligue 1 appearances, he has picked up a whopping 16 goals and 6 assists – marking him out as one of Europe’s most in-form players.
Whether Liverpool make a move for him remains to be seen, but it would make sense. However, given that he is rated at a whopping £45 million by Transfer Markt, a move won’t come easily.
