Revealed: 98% of Chelsea fans want 27-year-old to make his first UCL of the season against Qarabag

The clock is slowly winding down on Chelsea’s next Champions League fixture. The Blues are set to take on Qarabag this evening in a game that could see them qualify for the next round of the competition, whilst a loss could put them in a very precarious position heading into their final game against Atletico Madrid.

That said, given the Blues’ upcoming clash with Liverpool, rotation will be needed as Antonio Conte looks to keep his squad fresh, and so the fans in the Transfer Tavern are expecting a few fringe players to feature. One such player is Danny Drinkwater, who has yet to start in the Champions League thus far this season. Owing to an injury earlier in the campaign, the Englishman is still looking to make his mark on the competition – and tonight could be the perfect night for him to do just that.

That’s what the Chelsea faithful want to see, at least, given that according to a recent poll ran by our landlord, a whopping 98% of supporters have called for Drinkwater to start the game for the Blues. With just 2% voting to the contrary, it’s safe to say that the fans are desperate to see their summer signing make his first Champions League start of the season.

Though he’s a fringe player, Drinkwater still offers a lot to this team. He’s one of the best English midfielders in the Premier League, as he proved during his stint with Leicester City. Offering excellent passing, a defensive engine and an aggressive edge, he could provide just what Chelsea need in the middle of the park.
