The World Cup winner has regularly been criticised by former professionals and branded as lazy- but new data reveals that this couldn’t be further from the truth.
EA Sports’ Player Performance Index has revealed Ozil, on average, has covered more distance per game than the likes of Chelsea’s Eden Hazard, Liverpool’s Philippe Coutinho and Manchester City’s Raheem Sterling, amongst others, all of whom have been heralded by the media in the past year.
If that’s not enough to change your opinion of Arsenal’s highest-earner, then further details showed he is third-ranked amongst the Gunners leading players for work-rate, behind only Aaron Ramsey and Mikel Arteta, whilst sitting ahead of Alexis Sanchez and Theo Walcott.
Our Arsenal fans believe this data settles the argument concerning Ozil but many are still unconvinced, believing that he must put in more notable performances in order to deserve the best recognition.
