Arsenal fans in the Transfer Tavern have been discussing the injury to Francis Coquelin all week, debating what it means to their Premier League title push, and the debates have a new angle today.
The Daily Mail have revealed Arsenal’s six-man shortlist to replace the injured Francis Coquelin in January, with potential signings to bolster their impressive squad.
Arsenal’s wish-list is predominantly made-up of long-term targets as Bayer Leverkusen’s Lars Bender, Sporting Lisbon’s William Carvalho and Sevilla’s Grzegorz Krychowiak; all of whom would likely cost the Gunners in excess of £20m.
Lazio’s Lucas Biglia is also on the list, but is an unlikely swoop due to competition for his signature and the fact that he is 30-years-old in January, with the final two names being Nice duo Vincent Koziello and Nampalys Mendy.
20-year-old Koziello would be great long-term competition for Coquelin, though his experience would be called into question, and the same can be said for Mendy.
Our fans in the bar have selected Krychowiak as their ideal transfer target, swiftly followed by William Carvalho, but they’d like to see Coquelin remain first-choice upon his return so believe any of the targets would be welcome additions.
Arsenal fans, can you win the Premier League without Coquelin? Which of these signings would you make? Let us know in the comments below!
