The Chelsea fans in the Transfer Tavern have been discussing who Antonio Conte should pick to face Roma this evening. The Blues have enjoyed a bit of a turnaround over the last few weeks, with results finally going Antonio Conte’s way, and so there is a hope that their fine recent run of form will continue.
For that to be the case, though, Conte needs to pick the right team, and there is certainly a case for Michy Batshuayi to be involved. Though rarely a starter this season, the Belgian has been lethal over the last few weeks, and whilst he can often be frustrating, his goal record speaks for itself.
Clearly, though, fans would rather see Alvaro Morata feature for the Blues – with just 23% of fans recently polled by our landlord voting in favour of his Belgian rival. Indeed, it seems as though Batsuayi’s gamechanging performances against the likes of Atletico Madrid and Watford have not been enough to convince the fans of his quality. When questioned on the topic, in contrast to the 23% of fans calling for Batshuayi to start, a whopping 73% of fans were in the corner of Morata.
In fairness, it’s no real surprise, given that Antonio Conte typically agrees with this sentiment too. Morata has, more often that not, been favoured by the boss so far this term, and given the significance of this game, it wouldn’t be a surprise to see him feature once more.
That said, if he fails to score again, Batshuayi could be in with a genuine chance of starting against Man Utd.
