The Tottenham fans in the Transfer Tavern are looking forward to their side’s upcoming clash with West Brom. The Lilywhites have been in sensational form this season for the most part, and nobody in the pub is expecting the Baggies to pose much of a problem for Mauricio Pochettino’s men.
That said, West Brom aren’t a side that is lacking quality, and so there has been a lot of debate in the pub over the whether any of their players would get into Tottenham’s team. After a lot of work, it’s been nailed down to one name: Jay Rodriguez. Pochettino is known to be a fan of the former Southampton man, and he was linked with a move before the Englishman transferred to the Hawthorns.
Tottenham may have been unable to seal a deal on that occasion, but it appears as though at least a portion of Spurs fans would like to see their side go for him again. According to a recent poll ran by our landlord, over a third (37%) would like to see Tottenham scout the forward this weekend when the two sides face off.
It’s clearly a prospect that has divided the fan base, but there is a fairly large percentage of people that are, at the very least, interested in the Englishman, and it’s easy to see why. Not only would Rodriguez, who is rated at £9 million by Transfer Markt, add another homegrown name to Pochettino’s squad, but he has proven during his time in the Premier League that when he’s on form, he’s a real threat. Offering fantastic technical ability, energy and goalscoring ability, he’s a handful for defences to deal with.
Whether Pochettino will take a look at him this weekend remains to be seen, but he’s clearly a player to note for more than a few fans.
