A debate that we always hear bellowed around the corridors of the Transfer Tavern is regarding the best players of the season and, more specifically, which eleven players would get into the Team of the Season.
Well, our landlord is extremely pleased that the debate can be put to rest with the latest statistics we’ve received courtesy of EA Sports Player Performance Index.
They’ve revealed that the eleven players from the same stage last year are nowhere near the side, with Chelsea’s woes in particular being made clear by the fact that they have zero players in this year’s team- whilst last year they had six!
This year’s edition features the two excellent Leicester City stars crucial to their fantastic form, Riyad Mahrez and Jamie Vardy, whilst Tottenham Hotspur’s impressive defensive duo of Kyle Walker and Toby Alderweireld make the cut.
The decline of the elite is also shown by the fact that there’s just three players from Champions League clubs, with Arsenal duo Petr Cech and Mesut Ozil joined by Manchester City full-back Aleksander Kolarov.
West Ham and Crystal Palace also feature, with Scott Dann and Dimitri Payet respectively, with the line-up completed by Everton pairing Ross Barkley and Romelu Lukaku- both of whom have been in scintillating form this season.
