Revealed: World class boss rejected Man United offer

Ancelotti 4Manchester United fans in the Transfer Tavern were stunned into silence this afternoon, a very rare occurrence, after hearing that one of the giants in football has rejected an offer from their beloved club.

The Daily Mail states that Manchester United enquired about Carlo Ancelotti’s availability in November but he rejected the Premier League side in favour of a role with Bayern Munich.

United are looking for a new man to take the helms at the club at the end of the season and sounded out Ancelotti, who led AC Milan and Real Madrid to Champions League glory, about the possibility of taking over at Old Trafford.

However, United moved far too late for Ancelotti as the Italian boss was already deep in negotiations with Bayern Munich– a role he will take in the summer after Pep Guardiola confirmed his intentions to step aside and take a Premier League job.

It leaves question marks over who will succeed Van Gaal as United boss, with the Dutchman preparing for an imminent retirement, and United’s hopes of having everything laid out in advance to ensure there isn’t a teething period have been shattered.

Our United punters are concerned that the club will take two-steps backwards this summer, believing they could be set for another negative season like they experience after Sir Alex Ferguson’s retirement.

United fans, who do you want in charge of your club next summer? Let us know in the comments below!
