It’s FA Cup third round day in the Football Transfer Tavern, a day when the true romance of football is truly realised.
Liverpool fans are enjoying the action in the bar before their home tie with Oldham Athletic tomorrow when interesting reports arrive in the tavern.
Jamie Sanderson from Metro pops in to inform the Reds supporters that Brendan Rodgers has increased his interest in Basel winger Mohamed Salah after the Merseyside club were joined in the race by a host of other European clubs.
Rodgers is thought to be a huge admirer of the highly rated Salah, who has been dubbed ‘the Egyptian Messi’ because of his brilliant displays, especially in the Champions League.
The Reds have been following him closely after it was revealed by a former team-mate that he dreams of playing at Anfield. While a summer move was thought to be on the agenda, they appear to have been tempted into an earlier transfer with number of clubs intensifying their interest.
AC Milan, Napoli, Valencia, Atletico Madrid and Monaco are just few of the outfits believed to have approached Basel to discuss a move for Salah, and Rodgers is determined not to miss out.
According to recent reports, the Reds are putting together a £9million bid for the 21-year-old, which is likely to be announced in the coming days.
If they manage to land the highly rated Salah, Rodgers will also consider allowing Raheem Sterling to join Swansea City on loan after the Welsh club indicated an interest in recruiting the youngster.
The Reds are also thought to be close to landing Barcelona’s Cristian Tello on loan, which would bring even more smiles to the Reds supporters in the bar.
