Chelsea’s summer was slow to get going, but towards the end of the summer, the club really started to show some ambition. With a big move for Kepa Arrizabalaga and a loan deal for Mateo Kovacic, it’s clear that the Blues have their sights set very high this season.
It would make sense for them, then, to continue building on that in January, and we recently made the case for the Blues landing Englishman Raheem Sterling from Man City.
It seems clear that, at present, City aren’t offering Sterling exactly what he wants, and whilst there is no suggestion that he’ll leave the club, it’s a situation that Chelsea should be keeping note of.
Whilst, again, Chelsea would be foolish to be preparing a move for Sterling in the current context, it’s a situation that could quickly change, and Sterling is a player that fans would like to see at Stamford Bridge, it seems.
We recently asked Chelsea supporters whether they’d like to see Sterling move to the club, and 68% voted in favour of a move, whilst just 32% were against the idea.
Obviously, given his ties to Man City and Liverpool, it’s no surprise that some fans are against the prospect of a move, but it appears as though most recognise his talents.
He bagged a stunning 18 league goals last season, and he was hugely influential on the right-hand side of the attack, a position in which the Blues have lacked quality in recent years.
No matter how tough a move would be, many Chelsea fans clearly want to see their club take advantage of his situation if an opportunity arises.
