Rivals ramp up price for Chelsea deal, one thing holding Conte back

The Chelsea fans here in the Football Transfer Tavern are desperate to see manager Antonio Conte landing some top transfer targets with top six rivals already having announced their own this summer.

However, the staff here in the bar seem to know what’s holding the Premier League champions back.

According to a report from The Express, Chelsea won’t be announcing players until they’re switch from Adidas to Nike is complete, with their current kit deal running out on the 30th (this Friday).

With that in mind, the punters here at the Tavern are hoping that means they will be able to see Everton top scorer Romelu Lukaku announced as soon as next week, however there is a further snagging point there.

The report also claims that Conte’s Premier League rivals will demand £80m for the former Blues striker, £10m more than the offer that is already on the table from west London.

Chelsea fans, we want to hear from you! It makes sense that Nike are making them wait, but isn’t it a bit too far to get in the way of business? Do you think Conte should just meet the asking price to sign Lukaku? Let us know in the comments…
