Robbie Keane’s £6M Move

After Tottenham gave Robbie Keane the thumbs up on a January move away from Lane, the first team to signal there interest in the maverick frontman would actually mean a coming ‘home’, of sorts.

Wolverhampton Wanderers have become the surprise favourites to secure the signature of the one time Inter Milan forward.

A £6 million fee has been banded about the media to make the deal a reality. Wolves’ difficulties in front of goal have been well documented this season and there is no doubt that Keanes arrival at Molineux would guarantee goals.

Keane, 30, has gained the reputation as somewhat of a journeyman striker who has only ever really settled at the Lane, after leaving Wolves as a 19 year old. His Premiership pedigree is not in doubt and Keane has constantly found the net for any club he has played regularly for.

Mick McCarthy would see the Republic of Irelands all-time top scorer as the perfect compliment to the hard work and industry of Kevin Doyle, who this season only has a solitary league goal to his credit. Whether Keane agrees that a move ‘back home’ to Molineux is a good career move, is another question entirely but, what is for sure is that the £6 million quoted would be enough to sit down and talk.
