Rodgers holding firm in transfer stand off

Luis Suarez Liverpool fans here in the Football Transfer Tavern are shaking their heads at the news coming from the Metro who seem to think that Brendan Rodgers is holding firm over the future of Luis Suarez.

Some Liverpool fans are even getting annoyed at the club’s stance on keeping a player who does not want to be at the club anymore – Liverpool have been around long before Suarez and they certainly will after him.  Despite all of this, their Northern Irish manager Rodgers is claiming that the forward is ‘very much part of his plans’ and noted that in terms of his fitness and being ready for the new season,

‘He has still got some way to go. He is a number of weeks behind the other players,’

‘I also have to consider that our focus over the course of pre-season is for the first game [of the Premier League] and Luis will not be available for the first game.

‘But it is important he is very much part of the group.

‘He is working hard on his conditioning and over the course of time as he gets closer to playing we will build him up to more minutes on the field.’

Arsene Wenger is of course very keen on bringing the player to the Emriates and fellow forward Diego Forlan thinks that Suarez would make the Gunners challenge for the title again.
