With the January transfer window fast approaching, Newcastle United manager Rafael Benitez will be thinking about potential targets and hoping this time round Mike Ashley can get them through the door.

The Spaniard was left frustrated during the summer with the owner's incapability to land certain players but, with one name said to previously be on Benitez's shortlist now rumoured to be available for transfer, things may be different this time round and for the better.

The Breakdown

According to Turkish newspaper Hurriyet (via TEAMtalk), Galatasaray winger Garry Rodrigues, who was heavily linked with a move to St. James' Park just months ago, has been transfer-listed by his club, presenting Newcastle with a huge opportunity to bolster their squad.

Out wide, the Magpies are not exactly the strongest outfit among the teams around them with the likes of Matt Ritchie and Christian Atsu simply not possessing enough technical quality to help the club move forward.

Rodrigues, on the other hand, is a player who is a very good dribbler, quick and is an overall skilful forward.

Capable of playing on either flank, Rodrigues would complement Kenedy in attack nicely and just add another number to Benitez's very flat attack in general.

Albeit they have had some very tricky fixtures, Newcastle have not been good enough this season thus far and could do with some serious reinforcements in January.

And Rodrigues would be the perfect signing to get things rolling.
