The Daily Star report that Manchester United are planning a January offer for Saint Etienne left back Faouzi Ghoulam with interest reportedly building from Serie A giants Roma
Newly-appointed David Moyes has spent his first few months at the helm trying to find a quality replacement for French international Patrice Evra at Old Trafford, with the long serving left back’s future looking far form certain with the club.
Everton’s Leighton Baines has been the main name mentioned in regards to Evra’s position but the Toffees are proving resolute in their desire to keep hold of the England international and that could mean United having to look elsewhere.
It is likely that Moyes could move for Ghoulam, who was the subject of a failed bid from Torino in the summer, as he tries to get someone in place before Evra departs on a free transfer in the summer, with both Monaco and Paris Saint-Germain lining up a bid for his services.
He recently said: “I would love to finish the season here now, it has been a very difficult time for me in the summer with the Torino affair.
“However, things go quickly in football so we never know what is next.
“Manchester United? You are always flattered when such a big club is linked with you but I do not want to dream, the reality is to give 100 per-cent for St Etienne and see what will happen next.”
The young full back has impressed with Les Verts, emerging in France as one of the highly rated players in Ligue 1 and he could now be ready to make the big money switch to the Premier League.
