Roma seek Manchester United star on loan deal

The Football Transfer Tavern is a hive of activity this morning and joining the party are Goal.com who report that Roma are lining up a move for Manchester United winger Nani during the January transfer window.

Nani has struggled to get in the starting eleven for Sir Alex Ferguson’s side this season and a move to Serie A could tempt him away from Old Trafford.

Roma boss Zdenek Zeman wants to recruit a winger during the winter and views the Portuguese star as a suitable transfer option on a short-term deal.

The Italian club want to bring the 26-year-old in on a six-month loan deal with them having the option to make it permanent in June and Roma have already contacted Manchester United about setting up the deal.

However the transfer is not so clean cut as United are keen on recouping as much of the £20 million they paid for Nani five years ago as possible as his contract does not expire for another two seasons.

Nani had been attracting the attentions of Arsenal and Juventus in recent weeks but could a move to Roma be the perfect transfer for both parties? Vote in our polls below.
