Liverpool fans assembling in the Transfer Tavern to get a few rounds in before their League Cup clash this evening are discussing whether an experienced member of their squad should be moved on in January.
Talksport state that Roma are looking to bring central-defender Mamadou Sakho to Italy in the New Year, as they look to bolster their side for the second-half of their Serie A title campaign.
The Italian outfit currently sit fourth, four points behind current leaders Napoli, and face a daunting task ahead of them in one of the most exciting Serie A title battles in recent years.
Sakho has endured a troubled time at Liverpool, struggling to hold down a starting spot under Brendan Rodgers, but has made a positive impression on Jurgen Klopp and has earned six appearances since.
The French international is currently sidelined until the New Year with a knee ligament injury but that will not quell Roma’s interest in the former Paris Saint-Germain defender, though it’s stated that Klopp will fend-off any bids and make a decision on the player’s future at the end of the season.
Our fans don’t believe Sakho is the right option in the long-term but struggle to see a replacement arriving in the New Year, therefore stating it’s crucial Liverpool keep hold of the Frenchman until the summer.
Should Liverpool part ways with Sakho? Let us know in the comments below!
