Roma target permanent deal for Arsenal loanee

Wojciech SzczesnyArsenal fans in the Transfer Tavern are debating whether an exit from their club should be allowed, following the latest reports from the continent.

TalkSport state that Roma are keen to sign Wojciech Szczesny from Arsenal on a permanent basis, having been impressed with the player during the early months of his season long loan spell with the Italian giants.

Szczesny joined the Serie A outfit in the summer after Arsenal sealed a deal to bring Petr Cech to North London, which would have left the Polish international’s first-team opportunities looking very slim.

A decision was made to see the experienced stopper spend a year on-loan with Roma but Arsene Wenger has stated that he sees the player’s long-term future in North London but the Italian side are desperate to secure his services permanently. Sporting director Walter Sabatini said:

“We are working on it and would like to keep Szczesny but knowing Arsenal it will be difficult to achieve that. In any case, Roma are already covered for that role next season. Who did we get? I will never tell you that!”
