Roma’s Champions League hope would be a wonderful signing for Chelsea

The Chelsea fans here in the Transfer Tavern have been wondering how exactly their side gets back on track next season. Indeed, life has proven really rather difficult under Antonio Conte this season, just a few months after winning the Premier League title, and our Blues in the bar want big signings in the summer to help remedy their current woes.

With that in mind, perhaps a look back to Conte’s homeland could prove a promising avenue on that front. The former Juventus coach obviously knows Serie A inside following his stints with the Old Lady, as well as the Italian national side, and has moved to bring the likes of Davide Zappacosta and Marcos Alonso from Torino and Fiorentina respectively in order to strengthen his cause in SW6.

So, perhaps a move for Roma star Alisson would be wise. Indeed, current ‘keeper Thibaut Courtois has struggled for form this season amid suggestions he could move to Real Madrid and a move for the Giallorossi star could seriously strengthen their options between the sticks.

Widely regarded as one of the best stoppers in the world, the Brazilian international impressed during Roma’s 4-1 loss away to Barcelona in the Champions League (despite the scoreline) and would give Chelsea a whole new dimension when it comes to playing a high line.

We’ve seen how Ederson over at Manchester City can completely change a team, even in goal, and Alisson would certainly provide many of the same characteristics heading into next season. If Courtois is to go – and not many of our west London locals would care if he did at this point – the Selecao star would be a wonderful replacement.

The football betting indicates he is likely to be busy as Lionel Messi and company travel to the Italian capital for the second leg of their European tie on Tuesday night, Chelsea would be mad not to move for him.
