Newcastle United have been linked with three time world player of the year Ronaldo who last played for Corinthians. Ronaldo has recently announced his retirement from the game but rumours are surfacing that he could be set for a shock transfer to Tyneside.
It is thought the former Brazilian international could be tempted to a move to the Premier League if the offer was right. Newcastle manager Alan Pardew and owner Mike Ashley are thought to be putting together a package to sign the 34 year old on a 6 month deal.
Pardew believes Ronaldo still has something to offer despite his age and that he could provide competition up front for the likes of Leon Best, new signing Shefki Kuqi and Shola Ameobi.
The thought of one final chapter in an illustrious career, finishing in the Premier League where he has never played before could be the type of challenge Ronaldo might relish.
Ashley could afford to make him the highest earner at the club given that the contract would only be till the summer. Whether the fans would like the idea of another 34 year old striker at the club remains to be seen but Ashley believes this coup could get them back on side.
