Metro have Manchester United fans looking over to the bar to see what their captain, Wayne Rooney has to say here in the Football Transfer Tavern.
The publication seems to think that Rooney has offered his backing to former United forward Danny Welbeck who of course faced his former club as United took on Arsenal in the game of the weekend.
Rooney was asked about Welbeck and his summer move to north London and had nothing but support for his fellow England international, who was excellent for Roy Hodgson’s men in the middle of the week.
He claimed: ‘I think, for Danny, and for his own personal career, it was probably the best move for him.
‘He’s done great and scored a few goals and is playing well. Danny gives you what he always gives you – a good shift. He works hard for the team.
‘At times, as I said to him, he works a bit too hard but he’s scoring goals and he’s doing well.’
As our punters note, Welbeck is certainly a hard worker but we just cannot help worrying that his ability does not match his wok rate.
