Crystal Palace fans in the Transfer Tavern will see their side make the short trip to the outskirts of London to face Watford and continue their charge for survival this weekend.
Roy Hodgson’s team have started to build some momentum with their recent results and have established a small gap between themselves and the bottom three with a series of impressive performances from their stars.
However, those displays have attracted some unwanted interest in the likes of Wilfried Zaha, but the Daily Mail are reporting the Eagles are not prepared to sell him and will do all they can to keep him on their books during the summer.
Hodgson has stated that “(Zaha is) such an important player for Crystal Palace. He’s Palace through and through. He’s basically a player we regard as our own – the fans certainly could sing he’s one of their own – so we’d like to keep him.” he told the Daily Mail.
“Transfer speculation will always be rife. There’ll always be suggestions that this or that player is on the move. We don’t think about that. Wilf shows no signs of any thoughts other than helping his club get through the next four games to still be in the Premier League next season.
“Would we at Palace like Wilf Zaha to stay? Of course, yes, and he has four years on his contract, too. Let’s hope that’s sufficient.”
The Ivory Coast international has been one of Palace’s most influential players this season and has been rumoured to be of interest to Manchester City, despite his unsuccessful stint with local-rivals Manchester United.
The Palace fans in the Tavern will be hoping the Eagles can do all they can to keep the £22.5million-rated winger (via transfermarkt) this summer, although they will be deeply concerned if a club of Man City’s stature come calling.
